EXTREME JAMBALAYA COOK-OFF RULES


  1. Cooking ingredients provided with entry include:
    • 15lbs Pork
    • 5lbs Sausage
    • 10lbs Onions
    • 10lbs Rice
  2. Other ingredients and seasonings can be used but are NOT provided:
    • Green Onions
    • Red Hot Sauce
    • Celery
    • Black Pepper
    • Cooking Oil
    • Red Pepper
    • Bell Peppers
    • Salt
    • Garlic (Fresh & Granulated)
    • Water (Provided BUT not Recommended)

    *No Enhancers (i.e. Accent, Kitchen Bouquet)*

  3. Cooks must furnish black iron pot with lid and paddle
  4. Jambalaya must be cooked on propane ONLY, cooks must furnish. NO WOOD.
  5. Cooks will be furnished one (1) hinged plate for their own sample.
  6. Cooks will be furnished a double sided ticket, attached to a Styrofoam container. You will remove your half of the ticket and keep it in your possession. It is your responsibility to safeguard this ticket. You will leave the other half of your ticket on the Styrofoam container to be collected promptly at the end of your chosen heat time.
  7. At the end of your three (3) hour heat, your propane burner must be turned off. You will then have 15 minutes to prepare your Styrofoam container for judging and ice chest for collection.
  8. Cooks will be allowed to back-up to cooking area to unload and load cooking supplies out of vehicles. One (1) neon orange “Extreme Jambalaya Cook 2019” cardstock paper will be supplied for cooks to display on dashboard of vehicle for entry into the cook area.
  9. Trash barrels are provided to dispose of all trash. It is your responsibility to leave your cooking area clean and free of trash.

Our Vision

South Louisiana Family Festival was created with the vision of providing a clean, family friendly event that promotes local businesses, helps give life transformation from opioids, incarceration, and homelessness through housing, work training and employment.

South Louisiana Family Festival started as Extreme Ranch Rodeo which offered Louisiana its first free admission Professional Bull Riding several years ago. In its first year, PBR at Lamar Dixon drew in over 5,000 people. Since 2010, Extreme Ranch Rodeo has provided over 30 rodeos across the state, reaching more than 75,000!

The South Louisiana Family Festival which has partnered with local businesses from surrounding parishes to offer advertisement through TV, radio, public flyers, social media and the event itself. Over the last few years the festival has added an Extreme Color Run, Car Show, and other exciting events like the Ag Farm and Fair, which focuses on keeping Agriculture alive in our community. Our sponsors and partners have reported that this connection to their community has had a profound and positive impact on their businesses.
